Connection Manager visualizer not visible

I have a small project that needs to have the Connection Manager visible during development. I try to click on the visualizer toolbox and select the connection manager but also no luck.
If I click on the "My Serial Device 0" button inside the Interface Panel, the "Connection Error" dialog box appears. The image attached shows the dialog box (which I can't fully read since it can't be resized).
Any ideas how to get the connection manager to be visible like this?
